2nd EU-India Green Hydrogen Forum

2nd EU-India Hydrogen Forum

In January 2023, India launched its Green Hydrogen Mission, paving the way for a transformative approach to its energy landscape. With green hydrogen poised to replace traditional fossil fuels in sectors such as refineries, fertilizers, steel, chemicals, aviation, and shipping, India is committed to building a robust ecosystem and achieving its ambitious target of producing 5 million metric tons annually by 2030. This mission is supported by Production Linked Incentive schemes that aim to expand green hydrogen production and electrolyzer manufacturing capacities, positioning India as a leader in sustainable fuel production.

Efforts to advance green hydrogen, collaborations under the EU-India CECP have made significant progress with the 1st EU-India Green Hydrogen Forum, held in September 2022, marking a significant milestone in bilateral collaboration on clean energy. Co-led by the European Commissioner for Energy and India’s Minister for Power and Renewable Energy, the forum brought together over 150 participants, including policymakers, industry leaders, and academics. Through webinars, site visits, and study tours, the event strengthened partnerships, fostered dialogue, and shared best practices between the EU and India, setting the stage for ongoing collaboration in green hydrogen initiatives.

Building upon these achievements, the 2nd EU-India Green Hydrogen Forum is being organized on 21st May 2025 as part of the World Hydrogen Summit (WHS) in Rotterdam, Netherlands. This event will convene industry leaders and policymakers for focused discussions on critical areas, including policy exchange, technology collaboration, market development, public-private partnerships, knowledge dissemination, and tender cooperation. The forum aims to explore opportunities for regulatory frameworks that support hydrogen adoption, joint research efforts in hydrogen technology and production, innovations in hydrogen storage and distribution, and mutually beneficial market access initiatives. It presents a unique opportunity for participants to engage in meaningful dialogue, share insights, and develop strategies that advance green hydrogen initiatives, driving further global energy transformation.
